Google CEO Sundar Pichai to host the Google Event for SMBs in India


The Google CEO Sundar Pichai will address an event in New Delhi on Jan 4 for the Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs).

The Google Event will be addressed by the Union IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and some of the Google’s topmost executives including the Google India head Rajan Anandan. The event is a prelude to the Google partnership with the India Startups and is expected to be about how “to help them unlock exponential growth through the power of digital” and “how digital can be a game changer for Indian SMBs.”


Way back in 2014, Google has said that India is a strategic market for them and has launched Business Solutions for the SMBs. In fact, Google has been active in India for the past couple of years, providing cloud regions across the country. Recently, Google has conducted ‘Digitally Safe Campaign’ along with the Ministry of Consumer Affairs to spread awareness about the online safety of the Indian users. The youtube has launched the YouTube Kids app in India this year.  

As per the report by Google spokesman, Sundar Pichai will meet the students of IIT-Kharagpur as a part of his trip. The interactive session is entitled as  “A journey back to the past to inspire the future” and will be held on Jan 5 at an open theatre in the campus. Pichai is an alumnus of IIT-Kharagpur and has awarded a silver medal for his academic performance.


He had passed out from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur with a BTech degree in Metallurgical Engineering and then pursued his MS degree in Engineering and Materials Science from Stanford University. After graduating from the Wharton School with an MBA, he joined Google in 2004 as the Vice President of Product management before being promoted to the CEO of the company in 2015.

Pichai has landed in Jaipur on Sunday afternoon and seen vacationing with his family before kick starting the event.
