Is Google killing one of its Best Android Launchers?

Google currently has two android launcher apps in the Play Store—Google Now Launcher and Pixel Launcher. But, over the coming weeks, you can witness only one app.

Google Now Launcher has been a great launcher for the Android users over the years. However, according to the Android Police, the tech giant will be reportedly removing the launcher app from the Play Store and will refrain itself from offering any major updates in next few months.

In an email, sent to the GMS partners, Google announces that the Google Now Launcher will be unpublished from the Google Play from Q1 2017. However, the existing users will receive updates by updating the Google Search app.

Additionally, Google has stated that from March 2017, Google Now launcher will also be removed from the optional GMS (Google Mobile Services), which are used by OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer) for developing their own android devices.New devices with Google Now launcher will not be approved by Google, yet the OEM partners could make use of the Google Search Launcher service library for developing their own stock launchers.

As said earlier, the other launcher app—Pixel Launcher will be available in the Play Store, but unfortunately, restricted only to the Pixel smartphone users. Notably, there is no information about Pixel Launcher for other devices.

Anyhow, you can download other launchers like Nova Launchers or Yahoo Aviate Launchers, but I bet it cannot be as awesome as Google Now Launcher.
