Gmail’s Unexpected Sign Out is not an Indication of Phishing or Account Security Threats: Google

If you are signed out of your Gmail account today, don’t worry. You are not the only one!

Google has acknowledged that its users are reportedly facing unexpected sign out and receiving notifications asking for account action, has been reported on its Help Forum. Though the search giant is presently investigating the issue, it has made a clear statement that the unexpected sign out is no way related to any security threats.

We've gotten reports about some users being signed out of their accounts unexpectedly. We're investigating, but not to worry: there is no indication that this is connected to any phishing or account security threats.
Please try to sign-in again at accounts.google.com and if you cannot remember your password, please use this link (g.co/recover) to recover your password. If you use 2-Step Verification, there may have been a delay in receiving your SMS code. Please try again or use backup codes” said Community Manager of Gmail, Crystal Cee.

It is noted that while the users were continuously reporting the issue in the help forum, there is no statement if this issue is directly concerned with the new issue made by the search giant this month.

Earlier this month, Google has announced that the Gmail will stop supporting the older versions of Google Chrome by the end of 2017, and the people who still uses Gmail on Windows XP and Windows Vista will also get affected. As a matter of fact, they took this step to migrate their users to more secure and supported systems.

If you are facing a similar issue, all you need to do is open the account notifications and sign back into your Gmail account. For now, to avoid any issues, it is timely to reset your password, especially if you haven’t done it for ages and set up a 2-step verification process.
