Google launches ‘Areo’ app for food delivery & home service in India

Google has silently launched a new app for food delivery and home service called ‘Areo’ not in the U.S. But for the Indian market.

The app is currently live in Mumbai and Bangalore, allowing the user to order food from nearby restaurants, providers, and chefs and avail home service professionals, including electricians, beautician, painters, cleaners, plumbers and more.

Areo was first popped on Google Play Store on April 12, 2017, with an idea to combine food delivery and home services into one single app. The app was initially spotted by The Android Soul and then officially confirmed by The Economic Times.

With Areo, Google is not running its own food delivery and home service app. Instead, it is acting as a middleman between the user and the service provider. Google has signed up partners like Faasos, Freshmenu, and Box8 for food ordering, and Urbanclap and Zimmber for home services.

Google announced that it is not charging its partners, but rather distinguished Areo as an experiment.

The app facilitates seamless searching and scheduling of product and services and also enables online payment through card, netbanking or cash on delivery.

The app is currently live on Play Store in the above-mentioned cities. If things go cool, you can soon expect Areo in other parts of India and to other countries as well.
